The Master of Notary Study Program has been organized at the Graduate Program of Hasanuddin University since the Academic Year 2001/2002, initially in collaboration with Gajah Mada University. This cooperation was formalized in the Cooperation Agreement between Gajah Mada University and Hasanuddin University Number: 1279/P/KS/2001 and Number: 4596/J04/PM/05/2001, dated July 26, 2001, and the Educational Cooperation Agreement between the Graduate Program of Gajah Mada University and the Graduate Program of Hasanuddin University Number: 3130/J01.4/PP/01 and Number: 763/J04.17/LN.03/2001 dated July 26, 2001, with a cooperation period of 4 (four) years.
The implementation of the Master of Notary Study Program since the Academic Year 2001/2002 involved teaching staff from both Gajah Mada University and Hasanuddin University in a team-teaching manner, so the teaching staff of Hasanuddin University have gained experience in managing the Master of Notary Study Program. After approximately two years of program implementation, in December 2003 the Master of Notary Program graduated its first 5 (five) students with very satisfactory graduation predicates and achievement indexes ranging from 3.10 to 3.70. The study period for these alumni was relatively on time, completed within 4 (four) semesters. Up to June 2004, the program had graduated 29 alumni. Based on these considerations, the Master of Notary Study Program is now managed independently by Hasanuddin University.
Based on the National Education Minister Regulation Number 15 Year 2005, the Directorate General of Higher Education, which is responsible for managing part of the Department in the field of higher education based on policies set by the Minister and prevailing laws and regulations, has granted permission to operate the Notary Study Program at the postgraduate level (S2) at Hasanuddin University. The program's operational permit is granted for 2 (two) years starting from the first academic year after the determination. Since its establishment, the program was managed by the Graduate Faculty, later renamed the Graduate Program (PPs) of Unhas. However, due to the program’s mono-disciplinary nature and the eligibility of the Faculty of Law Unhas, based on Rector's Decree No. 3006/H4/O/2008 dated August 21, 2008, the management of the program was transferred to the Faculty of Law starting from the early semester of 2008/2009. The latest accreditation of the Master of Notary Study Program by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) was in 2018, with an accreditation rating of "B" based on the National Accreditation Board Decree Number 5159/SK/BAN-PT/Ak.Ppj/M/VII/2024 valid from July 23, 2024, until July 31, 2029.
