Learning Outcomes

The intended learning outcomes of the Legal Study Undergraduate Program are as follows:

Possess integrity and legal professional ethics in accordance to the values of Pancasila (core ideologies of Republic of Indonesia);

    1. Demonstrate understanding of General Knowledge (General Subjects)
    2. Demonstrate understanding of basic laws (history of law, theories of law, philosophy of law regarding the development of basic legal science namely sources of law, principles of law, subject of law, legal research and writing and Indonesian Law)
      1. Demonstrate mastery of substantive laws (criminal law, civil law, international law, administrative law, constitutional law);
      2. Demonstrate mastery of procedural laws (procedural criminal law, procedural civil law and procedural administrative law)
    3. 3.    General Skill
      1. Capable to think critically, logically and systematically;
      2. Capable to perform oral and written communication;

Admission Requirements

The admitted student is a fresh graduatewho has completed high school education or equivalent for a maximum of 3 (three) years since graduating.

Student admission is conducted in several types, namely:

  1. National Admission Selection for State Universities or SNMPTN
  2. Joint Admission Test for State Universities or SBMPTN;
  3. Independent track;
  4. Tracking on Sports, Art, and Scientific Achievements or POSK

Program structure and content

-       During the 1st year, students learn general knowledge to support their understanding of Law and Basic Law to establish a thinking framework to understand legal substantive and procedural law;

-       During the 2nd year, students learn to strengthen their understanding of substantive and procedural law;

-       During the 3rd year, students learn more advanced legal concepts and their implementation;

-       During the 4th year, students learn to construct their understanding of substantive and procedural law based on their interests and the final project.

 

The composition of the course is:

-      General Courses = 22 SKS (35,2 ECTS)

-      Faculty Compulsory Courses = 113 SKS (180,8 ECTS)

-      Compulsory Specialization Courses = 6 SKS (9,6 ECTS)

-      Elective Specialization Courses = 4 SKS (6,4 ECTS)

In 1 year consists of two semesters. The following is the distribution of courses along with the distribution of credits for each semester:

Teaching, learning, and

assessment strategies

Teaching strategies, in general, employ a Student-Centered Learning approach focusing on making students more active in thinking critically and solving a problem.

Assessment strategies focus on fulfilling the ELOs by employing various assessment methods such as assignments, exams, class discussions, individual or group presentations, and quizzes.

Standard Period of Study

Following curriculum structure, the duration of the study program is a minimum of 8 (eight) semesters and a maximum of 14 semesters. A student unable to complete the Program after the 14th Semester will be automatically dropped out.

 

Credit Points Gained

Each student will complete the minimum 145 credits (232 ECTS).

 

Modes of study

Study on the Program is undertaken on a full-time basis on each working day from Monday to Friday, starting from 07:30 AM to 5:30 PM Central Indonesian Time (WITA)

The Starting Date of the Program

Each academic year, student admission is only held on one occasion, namely in the beginning semester. The lecture on the beginning semester starts in August, while the final Semester starts in February.

 

The Introduction of the Program

The Legal Study Program was officially introduced in 1952 at the same time as the official date of the Faculty of Law establishment on March 3, 1952, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 3399/ Kab, dated January 30, 1952.

 

Additional Course Rules

Academic Leave

  1. Academic leave for 1 (one) Semester is permitted only a maximum of 2 (two) times during the study period and not permitted in two consecutive semesters, as well as never withdrawing from a whole course;
  2. Academic leave is not permitted consecutively with A resignation from the whole course;
  3. Academic leave is not permitted in the first four semesters;
  4. A student with a scholarship is not permitted to take academic leave;
  5. Student of the cooperation class is not permitted to take academic leave except otherwise stipulated in the cooperation agreement;
  6. During academic leave, a student cannot follow all academic activities in any form.
  7. A request for academic leave must obtain consent from the head of the study program or KPS and is submitted in writing to the Administrative Bureau Academic through Dean no later than 1 (one) week before the inaugural lecture;
  8. Academic leave period will not be taken into account in the calculation of the study period;
  9. Student on academic leave does not have to pay tuition fees.

 

Filing Objection to study grade

  1. Students can file an objection to studying grade obtained in an ongoing semester;
  2. A Standard Operating Procedure form stipulates the mechanism for filing an objection to a study grade by referring to a Rector Regulation.

 

Cancellation and Course(s) Replacement

A student may cancel or replace one or more courses already programmed as scheduled in a Calendar Academic. Request for cancellation or replacement of one or more subjects must obtain consent from the Academic Advisor, the head of the study program or KPS, and the Dean.

 

Drop Out Rules

The student shall be declared dropped out of the study if:

  1. Finish study period according to applicable regulations;
  2. Resign voluntarily;
  3. According to an evaluation at the end of Semester IV, not having achieved a GPA of at least 2.00, which counts from at least 48 credits that have been passed; and
  4. Discharged for conducting crime and/or violating provisions stipulated by the government and/or the University.

 

The dropout of study decision shall be set out separately in a Rector Regulation.

 

Special Requirements

The Study Program offers no special education services. However, the Program enforces a non-discrimination policy in their enrollment and study process. It means that any individual who has a disability(s) or special needs may be equally admitted and participate in the study process of the Program.

Graduate Profiles

  1. Lawyer. Be able to provide legal services to society before and/or outside the court;
  2. Judge. Be able to act as a judge by examining and trying and resolving all cases which have been submitted to the court and undertake other authorities set by applicable law;
  3. Prosecutor. Be able to act as a public prosecutor and implement legally binding court verdicts and undertake other authorities set by applicable law;
  4. Legal Consultant. Be able to provide legal advice and opinions on legal actions that are already and/or will be done by the client. Legal actions in question are any actions outside the court (non-litigation)
  5. Legislative Drafter. Understand, comprehend, and be able to draft legislative products or business contracts.

 

Job Opportunities

Job opportunities available for a graduate from Legal Study Undergraduate Program are considerably good, either in government agencies, companies, and legal profession field, such as lawyer/advocate, notary, Land Deed Official or PPAT, Prosecutors, Judges, and legal consultants and in government agencies such as legislative drafter and the decision drafter. Meanwhile, a job opportunity at a company is a legal consultant.

The result of the Tracer Study conducted in 2022 shows distribution of alums of the Legal Study Undergraduate Program encompasses five graduate profiles, as follows:

  1. Lawyer;
  2. Judge;
  3. Prosecutor;
  4. Legal Consultant;
  5. Legislative Drafter

Besides the graduates' profile above, some alumni continue their studies to the postgraduate level, and some are pursuing a career as a lecturer in some universities.

Teaching and Learning Facilities

The Faculty of Law at Hasanuddin University provides supporting facilities for learning, such as classrooms, reading rooms, legal clinics and laboratories, contract and deed drafting rooms, moot courtrooms, video conference halls, consultation rooms, and elevators for ease of accessibility.

Vital and sophisticated online infrastructure is also available to ensure the proper functioning of student digital learning processes. This infrastructure, among them: LCD Screens, WIFI hot-spots, Integrated E-learning Networks (i.e., SIKOLA and Law Information System/LIS), Course Management Networks (i.e., NEOSIA), Video Conference Networks, and Faculty Official Website.

In addition to faculty-provided facilities, Hasanuddin University also offers the following supporting facilities: University Library, Sports Center, and Counseling Center.

 

Academic Staff

The Legal Study Undergraduate Program employs 99 (ninety-nine) active lecturers with qualifications as follows:

  • Master's degree: 26 people;
  • Doctoral Degree: 73 people.

Of the ninety-ninth, 37 people are Professors; 21 Associate Professor, and 35 are Assistant Professor.

 

The lecturers get support from 52 Education Personnel, which consist of:

  • Administrative Personnel;
  • Two librarians; and
  • laboratory technical staff.
